You’ve Blown It

You’ve Blown It

We all have

I’ll start off by saying I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and the in-laws didn’t complain too much!

Human beings by nature aren’t perfect and will mess up — it’s like it’s in our DNA to self destruct once in a while, no matter how small it is.

And the holiday season is the perfect time to do just that! Diets, goals, promises we’ve made to ourselves and others, gone; we’ve all let a few go with the united excuse of our yearly celebrations.

Now that we’ve blown it; gorged, drank too much and slipped on our promises, we’re all feeling a bit sore and guilty.

But I’d like you to think about the New Year’s resolutions you made last year — what have you accomplished, what have you failed on, and what goals have changed? And with this, I’d like you to rearrange that list (or start completely fresh) to suit 2025 — keep it simple, don’t think about big goals: focus on the individual steps to get there — this makes it manageable and not so out of reach.

Don’t decide you want the dream body — decide you’re going to go to the gym 3 times a week and every week you’re going to change one food in your diet (e.g eliminating white bread or adding more protein).

Rather than constantly checking your weight and how big those biceps are looking, you’ll be proud of the undefeated week you’ve had and how much better you feel after cutting those carbs down.

It’s the small strokes that paint the big picture.

And you may be all on board and ready to get back on track but that New Year’s party is still on its way and you know some more slipping will be had.

So ask yourself when you’re there — do you need to get rat arsed or is one drink enough? Do you want to remember the fireworks and wake up feeling fresh for the first day of the year?

I always tell myself — regret or reward. Which is greater?
